Alright, I'm going to rant about the Kyuubi. You know it's very theraputic, I think. After ranting about NaruHina, I'm totally over it now. I've said everything I needed to say about the fanon-couple and now I'm bored with it. It's good to get that out of your system, and silly to get so worked up over it.. but I guess I probably wouldn't have gotten this point if I didn't say everything I wanted to about them. So, yeah! Moving on.

Kyuubi. My little, cute, furry nine-tailed fox. First thing, first. It's not little or cute - furry maybe, and boiling with rage, but not how some people depict it.

Yes, you can write the Kyuubi in an OOC manner and, yes, it actually happens a lot! For the love-of-god, it may be mysterious due to not having been shown that much but the Kyuubi's personality have been pretty clear cut in what has been shown of it. It's a huge beast that's been cramped into a little, tiny, human body and it was immortal though now, it might just die if little, tiny, human body dies. It is locked and sealed up by a human and lost its freedom. For twelve years, it couldn't even use most of its powers, because of a human.

So, we got super-powerful, angry as hell, Kyuubi, out and thirsting for blood, now inside Naruto. Anyone, please tell me, what will the Kyuubi not do? That's right, it won't be sympathetic, and it certainly isn't going to become a girl and bond with Naruto like the compassionate and wise beast that it isn't.

Why will Kyuubi not seduce Naruto? Because, so far, there's been zero evidence that it will. It has tried to seduce Naruto through power, but has anyone seen this all powerful beast use anything other than intimidation and tempting Naruto beyond power? Has anyone seen shape-shifting abilities or the Kyuubi turning into a human form of any type? Granted, there are legends, but that's not the Naruto world. An author can do that, but if he/she want to alter the Kyuubi in anyway, make an acknowledgment at least of how it's been depicted so far and give a reasonably believable reason as to why it's decided to change tactics now.

For example, there are a lot of anime out there that depict historical characters in their own shows. Sometimes it's just the use of a name or a concept of who that person is. The mangaka or anime may have taken artistic liberties with what was used. Yes, as a writer one can also take artistic license with one's own characters, but dear aspiring writer, admit using a character already established in an anime and manga means that you did not create this character but are basing said character on already established characters. This means it is very, very possible for one to write them out of character, since they are really not the writer's own.

Okay, now that we've established we are talking about the Kyuubi in Naruto and not mythology of Japan, let's remember what the Kyuubi has not been depicted as:

1. Sexual manipulator/seductor
2. A flirt
3. Having a sense of humor
4. Gentle/kind
5. Wise
6. Happy go lucky
7. Friendly

Okay. So, if any of these things about the Kyuubi would be in a writer's fic, what is needed? A REASONABLE explanation!

For the love-of-god, you can do whatever you want with the characters, but that doesn't make your fic good! And even if it is good, I've read plenty of good OOC fics, that doesn't mean it's not OOC! On top of that, writing the Kyuubi based on research of Japanese mythology is not the same as writing the Kyuubi based on research on the manga, Narutoverse, because which reality are we writing in again?

Oh, that's right! Narutoverse!

Barely awake so my opinions right now... probably way off on Uranus or something. And I wasn't planning this to end this way... that's what happens when you're sleep deprived. I like my earlier idea, inspired by a discussion I'm having with minni than this. That one was a wicked, poignant dialogue... this one is just the influence of too much fic reading on over-load.

Am I the only one who sees the humor in Teacher's Pet? Granted, it's not laugh-out-loud funny and it's not slap-stick humor, but Iruka's scene of doom? Kakashi's awkward moments with a girl who actually wants to talk about feelings? Tsunade's contemplation of D-ranked sake runs. I mean, it starts off serious, sure... but there's humor! Right? RIGHT?!

Okay, there's a lot of stuff I don't like about this one and some elements I did like and would like to incorporate in future fics that may actually make the cut from the trash-bin I've tossed this one into. I'm not cluttering the rest of the space on my reasons for not liking it unless someone really, actually cares to know. Whatever. If you enjoyed it, at least it was good for something.

I'll be updating this table as I write it with links to the drabbles. I'll also be updating the Writer's Choice at the end when I figure out what and who I'm going to do (not in the kinky way). Okay, enjoy! I'm sure this is going to be both fun and torturous. That's what happens in most of my activities concerning writing.
